Charm and the art of persuasion

So.

Due to my severe lack of understanding concerning my dergrees, I’ve found yet another wonderful loophole!

Went to an advisor this morning, because the one class I thought I absolutely needed to graduate was full, and the prof wasn’t letting me in. ( bitch.)

Turns out, that not only do I not need the class anymore, I am only 3 classes away from getting a BFA in painting. Really thought that I needed 9 classes, but it turns out its more like 9 credits.

PLUS!

The curator offered me an internship for this school year, wants me to enroll in his classes ( something like Museum practice and reasearch classes that consist of me doing cool projects for the shows ), my name is going to be in two books covering the shows I’m helping with, AND best of all, those credits are what saved me from that horrid horrid class I thought I needed to take!!!

SO.

Drinks are on me tonight.

It’s jazz night at Ricos and I don’t have class tomorrow.

HOO-rah.

But not too many drinks for me, however, because,

1) My birthday is Saturday, which promises many opportunities to get delightfully stupid- should probably pace myself if I want to be alive and happy on Sunday.

and

2) It’s crunch time for art. If it was a war between me and the entire faculty in the art department, this is when I go into trench building mode, designing traps and manuveurs and guerilla attack.

Shock and awe. This is my strategy.

Which also includes being awfully friendly to the staff, asking their oh so valued opinions of my work, and making the appropriate accomidations. Because damnit, I’m getting into this program this time around. And I won’t hesitate to make it clear that I won’t be so nice about taking no for an answer this time.

So begins the battle.

The plan for tomorrow is to build my own canvas stretchers, spice up my watercolors, and finish the larger watercolors that are too big to scan in and share here.

I’ll know my goal is accomplished if, by the end of the day, my place is covered in art supplies, and I look like I got in a paint fight and lost.

The results should be good.

I’ll scan in what I can.

Ooh, and I’ve already begun scanning out my faculty friend prospects. You have to pick the right ones, otherwise, the whole encounter may ultimately harm you I’ve realized. If one prof is way into dark art that is heavily personalized and embraces digital technology, I’d really rather not know what they think of my highly analog works.

So such is my battle schedule for the upcoming weeks. BFA certification day is October 20th…… so I still have time to rock the art department. They won’t even know what hit them….. ( somewhat diabolical laughter….)
