Spectacular Spectacular….
Tuesday, March 20th, 2007 at 11:54 amSpectacular rhymes with vernacular, which happens to be one of my favorite words.
Hence, the name for the show.
Which, by the way, is the reason behind my lack of entries as of late.
Just wrapped up a full week of art making, sans the day job, which was incredible. I could definitely get used to that. Now if only I could find a patron to pay all my expenses so I can focus entirely on my art…. I’ll keep you updated on that.
This week is going to be a stressful one, no doubt. Between publicizing the show, and the band ( which we have two gigs this week….awesome timing), and prepping everything to be hung in the show by Friday, PLUS an early morning drive on Saturday to Cannon Beach will no doubt be interesting to juggle. But hey, I figure, once the show is hung, I’ll be able to breathe normally again. I wonder if it’s like this for every show for curators. I guess I could stick with it if after every hanging, I got to go to the Oregon Coast. That wouldn’t be such a bad deal at all.
Number one most exciting thing in the near future as of this very minute…..
THE CLOSING RECEPTION!
Info:
When- SATURDAY, MARCH 31ST 7-10 P.M.
Where- FINE ARTS BUILDING…….GALLERY III
Bonuses: LIVE MUSIC, FOOD, AND ARTSY TYPE FOLKS.
What more do you need?
My band, Four Hill Blues, will be rocking eveybody’s faces right off, it’s going to be a DOUBLE opening, meaning my oh so talented friend Nick Inman has a solo show in Gallery II, which means twice the art, and when there’s twice the art, there’s twice the fun, right? We were talking about getting a petting zoo, and hiring people that we could paint all one color and have stand on pedastals throughout the building so we could have live statues, but no one’s game so far. Apparently they’d rather eat the free food an listen to music and socialize or something.
But, if this position sounds good to you. Let me know! Volunteering for an artist organization always looks good on a resume.
But alas, it’s off to my studio I go. Of course, I have some last minute great ideas that I want to make happen before Friday. We’ll see how this goes. I’ve taken a new direction from what I’ve been doing since about September, and it’s really exciting. No pictures are up on the site yet, because, AH HA! You have to come see them for your self at the Gallery on Monday! I’m looking forward to what the show will look like. As of this minute, I’m not entirely sure how this is going to go…..
Wish me luck. I have a feeling I may need it.
